Cancer is the second leading cause of death among Canadian women. The three leading causes of cancer deaths among women are lung, breast and colorectal cancers. In this chapter we present results for a number of non gender-specific cancers including lung and colorectal malignancies as well as those that occur in women only, such as breast, cervical, ovarian and uterine cancer. The results can be used to identify the disparities and gaps in access to cancer services not only between men and women, but also between different subgroups of men, and subgroups of women. This can help to ensure that the specific needs of subpopulations are addressed in the Ontario cancer system, which includes improving access to targeted health promotion and cancer screening information, as well as access to care and services.

We report on the following areas of cancer care:

• General indicators (burden of cancer: incidence, survival and wait times for surgical procedures)
• Cancer screening
• Colorectal cancer
• Lung cancer
• Breast cancer
• Gynecological cancers
• End of Life care
