Dr. Bhattacharyya is currently a clinician Scientist at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael's Hospital and assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto.

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Montreal in 1999 and finished his residency in family medicine from the same university in 2002. He completed a PhD at the University of Toronto in the Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation in 2006. He was a Takemi Fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health's Department of Population and International Health from 2006 to 2007. He is on the executive committee of  the clinical and scientific section of the Canadian Diabetes Association and their clinical practice guidelines dissemination and implementation committee.

Dr. Bhattacharyya's main research interest is knowledge translation in primary care and quality improvement in diabetes and cardiovascular disease. His other interests include primary care performance measurement, and innovative health service delivery models, global health and aboriginal health.
