Dr. Rabeneck's major research interest is colorectal cancer screening for which she is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). Dr. Rabeneck serves as Medical Director of ColonCancerCheck, Ontario's Colorectal Cancer Screening Program.

Dr. Rabeneck is principal investigator on an international study entitled "CIHR Team in Population-Based Colorectal Cancer Screening"

In 2004 Dr. Rabeneck was the recipient of a national "Women's Health Hero" Award from Chatelaine magazine, for her contributions to colorectal cancer screening in Canada. In 2007 Dr. Rabeneck was awarded the distinction of Master of the American College of Gastroenterology.
