Liisa Jaakkimainen
Liisa Jaakkimainen attended Queen's University in Kingston where she received a BSc in Life Sciences and a MSc in Community Health and Epidemiology. In 1995 she completed her MD degree at McMaster University, followed by a residency in Family Medicine at the University of Toronto.
After completing a fellowship at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES), Dr. Jaakkimainen became a funded researcher and assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. She is currently a scientist at ICES and her research interests include family medicine, quality of care indicators, continuity of care in family medicine and chronic disease management in family medicine.
She recently completed a Primary Health Care Transition Fund grant titled "Primary Care in Ontario: ICES Atlas". Dr. Jaakkimainen is also a staff family physician in the Family Practice Unit at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto.
