Dr. Angus studies issues in gender, health, and access to health care using qualitative methods to examine the contextual influences on health related decisions and practices.  Her current work is substantively focused on opportunities, barriers and resources that differently condition: 1) access to cancer screening, 2) access to health care, and 3) attempts to modify cardiovascular risk. This work draws on critical social theories and qualitative methodologies such as critical ethnography and photo-elicitation. 

She has received research funding from Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and serves as a peer reviewer for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research on the Psychosocial, Sociocultural, & Behavioural Determinants of Health B Committee. 

Dr. Angus has taught several courses in the graduate and undergraduate programs; currently she teaches NUR 1028 - Introduction to Qualitative Research: Methodologies, Appraisal and Knowledge Translation, and NUR1025H -Doing Qualitative Research: Design and Data Collection.
